Royal Mail Collectibles are most definitely not toys. They’re incredibly detailed, die-cast models aimed at collectors who know their stuff. And that’s exactly where the brief led us: masses of accurate, scaled-down information with blueprint drawings and technical specs.
Building on the popularity of its collectibles ranges, Royal Mail commissioned new packaging for its replica mail vans. Definitely not toys, these are fine metal castings, periodically faithful and accurately detailed, which was exactly what the pack needed to reflect. As the pack opens a technical blueprint of each vehicle is revealed.
Following on from the success of the die cast model van collection, a range of finely detailed historical pillar boxes were released. Although packaged within cardboard tubes, the design followed a very similar approach with full colour technical illustrations of the boxes set on simple line drawn backgrounds.
